As expected, Leia loves spending time with her grandparents just like any other furry friend out there.
Leia was thrilled when her mom brought her to her grandparents’ home for a short visit. However, plans changed as Leia and Katie’s dad had other ideas. Despite being a typical strong-willed German Shepherd, Leia couldn’t resist the love and pampering from her doting grandparents, which led to a special bond between them.
According to Katie, Leia is not the kind of dog who seeks cuddles all the time as she values her independence. Nonetheless, she expresses her love for her humans in a unique way. For instance, she may choose to lie close to them while watching movies or patiently wait outside the bathroom door until they are done.
Katie and her mother had an epiphany about how strong the bond was between Leia and her grandfather when he had to spend the night in the hospital without his beloved pet. Unfortunately, a happy occasion turned sour for Katie’s family as her father fell ill while they were out dining.
In the evening, he was brought to the hospital and his wife had to leave. Naturally, everyone was worried about his health, but Leia was especially heartbroken. Upon realizing that only her grandmother had come back home, Leia stood in front of the door with a sad expression and waited for hours for her human to come back. Pictures of Leia in this state were taken by Katie’s mother and sent to her daughter.
Katie was deeply moved when she received a photo of her dog, Leia, looking forlorn and missing her father. The image brought tears to Katie’s eyes, as she realized how much Leia loved her dad. Fortunately, Katie’s father returned the following day, and Leia couldn’t contain her joy upon seeing him again. After observing the strong bond between Leia and her father, Katie decided to let Leia stay with her parents permanently instead of just a few months as originally planned. Katie described Leia as an incredibly loyal dog who now considers her father to be her human.
